Adventures in St. Petersburg, Florida State Fair: Day 1 and 2

Last February we flew out to Florida to visit our BFF from high school, Kristy. We hadn’t seen her in years and were so excited to see how she was doing! Also, we could not say no after she told us she lives in St. Petersburg, nicknamed “Heaven’s Waiting Room” due to its high population of seniors. Party on!!

Triplets Night with Tavuchi at Giant Robot and Osha; Spank! is Coming to Sweet Streets

Adorable Spank! queen Tavuchi was in town, visiting from Tokyo. She arrived a day after the “Real Japanese Kawaii” opening party, but we decided to swing by Giant Robot anyway so she could check out the art.

Here’s the backstory about our silly matching outfits! When I saw what Laura was wearing, I realized I had something similar in my own closet. I ran upstairs to put it on so we could be creepy twins. Moments later, my doorbell rang, and it was Tavuchi… wearing a pink vintage babydoll dress too. And fate gave birth to triplets.

Interview in Cupcake Punk by Jessica Louise

When I first began sewing 10 years ago, one of my biggest inspirations was Jessica Louise. I loved that her designs are not only super colorful and girly, but oh-so-comfy too. So you can feel cute and fancy in her clothes all day without wanting to change into sweatpants and die by the end of the night! I sent her a dorky fan letter on Myspace (those were the days!) and was completely smitten by how sweet, open, and encouraging she was.

I was so happy when she asked to interview me for her adorable new blog, Cupcake Punk. Sorry if you’re sick of this picture of me, I’m sick of it too. I’ll take a new one… someday!
