Jen’s Cal Skate Birthday Party

Every year since like, the third grade, Jen has celebrated her birthday at Cal Skate in Milpitas. This year was especially monumental, as Cal Skate finally went out of business shortly after, so this was our final hurrah. So many memories here! Erin Mahan’s 8th birthday, 6th graders night out where I couple skated for the first time with Phan Tran in my brand new lime green Benetton T-shirt tucked into white jeans, and now finally, Jen’s 31st birthday. I think Cal Skate could have stayed in business had they just updated their stained carpet and decorations from grand opening night in 1977, but I guess that was part of their charm. Oh, Milpitas!

Kevin’s Santa Cruz Skateboard Reunion and Bieber Fever

Last March, Santa Cruz Skateboards held a reunion at their old headquarters to film a documentary about their company. Being a skateboard artist back in the ’90s was Kevin’s first art job (he did all these!), so he was super nostalgic and excited to be a part of it.

I know nothing about skateboards, so I was banished to the Justin Bieber room.

Kevin revisits his very first office, ie. Jim Phillips’ garage. Wow, someone’s come a long way!

The Makeup Show LA 2011

This year was my first time going to The Makeup Show in LA. I originally planned to get into town the night before, but we got so bogged down with work that we pulled a work all-nighter, did not sleep at all, then left town at 6am and made the 5-hour drive straight to The Makeup Show.

What I didn’t realize is that my cat had peed on my luggage (he gets stressed when he senses that we are leaving town), and the smell seeped into my clothes. I didn’t have time to buy a new outfit before the show, so instead I did what any normal person would do: I sprayed myself head to toe with feline odor neutralizer and hoped for the best. If you saw me at The Makeup Show and smelled something foul, sorry. That was me.

Adventures in St. Petersburg Florida, Day 4: Beach, Beers, and My Dream Backyard

Since we’re halfway through November already, I guess I should finish posting the rest of my Florida pics from February!

Kristy, me and Jen. I NEVER go to beaches in California, but for whenever I’m anywhere else I always want to see the beach for some reason. Maybe because no one else pollutes their beaches as badly as California does. With the exception of Vietnam.
