The Lady Spade party at JapanLA

The day after Magical Girls, our pals The Lady Spade held a CD release party and autograph signing at JapanLA. Time to put on 10 layers of makeup to hide that hangover and come out to play!

Tiffany, Alice and me, with SLF creeping behind us. Love these guys so much! They don’t speak English and I don’t speak Japanese, but they are some of the funniest people I’ve ever met. We all laughed at each other’s jokes even though we had no idea what we were saying. Maybe they were all laughing at me and not with me, I will never know. Either way, we had a lot of fun and we adore them!

Sugarpill at Rune Boutique Party featuring 6%DOKIDOKI and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

Sugarpill Cosmetics is proud to sponsor the Rune Boutique “Roots of Kawaii” World Debut Party at Royal/T Cafe on Friday, December 9! The venue will be transformed into kawaii heaven, with a 6%DOKIDOKI fashion show featuring special guest model and recording artist Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (adorable girl from the freaky Pon Pon Pon video) and makeup by Sugarpill, Japanese pop-up shops, giveaways, an exhibition of original artwork by Rune Naito, costume contests, themed photo booth, Sapporo, and FOOD TRUCKSSSSS!!

Magical Girls at Meltdown Comics featuring The Lady Spade and The Aprils!

An overabundance of sparkling cuteness was in the air at the “Magical Girls: Art Inspired by Shojo Manga” party at Meltdown Comics. Hosted by the lovely ladies of Sweet Streets and Bubble Punch, the show featured works by Japanese art collective Shibuya Girls Pop, as well as non-Japanese favorites including Miss Kika, Bei Badgirl, and tons more I can’t remember because these pictures are from April (shut up!). There were live performances by Japanese girl bands The Lady Spade and The Aprils, as well as a cosplay costume contest judged by the lovely Tavuchi of Harajuku shop Spank!
