Hello Kitty’s Bats and Cats Masquerade Pictures

The night before the big Sanrio fashion show, the exquisite ladies of Bubblepunch hosted the Hello Kitty Bats and Cats Masquerade Ball. I was freaking out because I was STILL sewing my dresses for the fashion show just minutes before we got on the plane for L.A.! I was a complete stress case, but could not miss this party because I hadn’t seen any of my friends in nearly a month and knew the next day would be work, work, work.

The party was fun x 239842893!! Yume and Michelle went above and beyond with this one. The venue was packed to capacity (over 1,100 guests inside, with a huge line wrapped around the block), and everyone was dressed up soooo cute!

My sister Sarah flew down for the weekend too. It was funny because she wore a Shrinkle dress and Sugarpill eyeshadow, so people kept getting us mixed up! :-D

Josh, Zoe, Ales, and Kevin. I told Josh he had to reprise his high school gothic prom photo if he wanted to go to the party, so he did. Hahahaha! Too bad he didn’t have the mesh spiderweb shirt anymore.

The lovely Michelle aka Chubby Bunny, one half of the creative team that is Bubblepunch!

Lumi, Yume (the other half of Bubblepunch), me, Naomi, Jessica, Laura

Stephanie, The Tess, me!

Jessica and Brynna. SpooOooooOky!

Cute girls!

Naomi and Jess

Back of Laura’s head, and Cecilia. Fun fact! I found out that Cecilia, whom I’ve never met before, has a kitty from the same litter that Creamsicle and Little Brother came from. Awwww!! We spent a lot of crazy cat mom time sharing pictures of our cats, comparing and contrasting, and squealing “OH MY GOSH THEY LOOK JUST ALIKE!!!”

Lumi and Anne

Tera Patrick!! She was soooooooo nice and down-to-earth.

I embarrassed Kevin by telling her he was a fan!

Lumi and Sarah

Chrissa and Michelle! I was so excited to meet Chrissa. We’ve been internet friends for YEARS and she’s even cuter in real life than I ever imagined!

Laura and Tony

Chrissa and me again!

Sarah and Matt

Kevin, Lumi, Yume

Me and Lord Darkness himself, Josh!

Help, I can’t tell us apart!!! I wish we’d gotten Stephanie and Michelle, who are also Vietnamese with blue hair, in this pic with us.

Chiqui!!

Jessica, Buff, Lumi

Supercute cutie cute cute cute! Who is this?

Misha and Laura

Brynna sandwich!

The following four pictures I stole from Zoe!

Camelia and me

Alcuin and Jamie

Haha, one of the funniest costumes of the night. Photo stolen from Steph and Jeanie’s blog. Just so I don’t have to repeat it every time, any photo that says “Cute and Nast” was taken by Steph and Jeanie!

So cute!!

Only Julie could look this adorable dressed as Hello Kitty’s CHAIR!!!!!

The Wandering Marionettes performed. I missed the show and asked Steph afterward how it went. She said, “They’re these weird black and white people who move and dance, and when you make eye contact with them it feels weird.” Thanks for the in-depth review, Stephanie!

Stephanie and Chrissa

These cute girls won Hello Kitty popcorn makers in the costume contest!

Me being a creeper and spying on the girls. Haha I probably ruined the picture for Michelle!

I guess this is what I looked like from the other side of the glass.

Group photo that I’m not in because I like being alone and creepy!

This is Rachel aka KOOL-AID MAN!! I have been her #1 fan since Stephanie’s epic neon Disneyland post in with Rachel dressed and posed as the Kool-Aid man. I kept embarrassing Rachel all night by telling everybody she was famous. Whenever they asked what she was famous for, I’d say “Hello! She’s the Kool-Aid guy!” Poor Rachel.

HAHAHAHAHA I wouldn’t leave Rachel alone until she did the Kool-Aid man for me!

Don’t leeeeeave me Raaaaaachel!!!

Awkward Jeanie/Tess hug

Stephanie and Tess saw pillars and an immediate photo-op. Classy ladies!

Yume, Naomi, Jessica

Brynna and Jackie

I couldn’t stop complimenting Tess’s necklace all night. Finally I asked her where she got it and she told me it was the cover of a notebook she cut out. AWESOME, ANYONE?!??!!??

Still lovin’ that notebook!

Back at the hotel. Oooohhh shit, Tess finds the Hello Kitty pants! That’s my unfinished mascot dress hanging in the background.

DISCLAIMER!!!! I did NOT make these scary pants/shoes! Sanrio only gave them to me so I could make sure the outfit I made fit over them.

Sexy ladies

Tess isn’t satisfied with just the pants. She wants more.

Just bein’ casual, that’s all

We were hungry and wanted to go to Tito’s Tacos. But they were closed, so we ended up at this weird dive next door that had HOLY SHIT the hugest mess of a menu we’d ever seen. I mean seriously? Did they even attempt to put these items in any kind of order or at least break them up into categories?

1-44

45-88 (I think it actually went up to 100)

Don’t forget to check out our specials!

ATTENTION! Us too!

HAHAHAHA best candid ever. These faces pretty much sum up our reactions to the colossal menu.

That’s all for today. Gotta catch up on emails and shipping orders. I’ll also work on uploading pics from the actual fashion show!

Don’t forget — if you don’t have plans for this weekend, come visit me and Twinkie Chan! We are getting booths at the New People Artist Fair in Japantown to sell our wares. Both of us are lowering our prices for this event only because YAY NO ETSY, EBAY OR PAYPAL FEES! Oh and because we’re nice. All the info you need is on Twinkie’s blog because I didn’t feel like typing it all up myself.

XOXO
