Shit. I’m long overdue for an update!
4/6: First off, my photoshoot with theSTART was AWESOME x 100000000000!!! It was my first time doing this for a band (previously, the only shoots I’ve styled for have been for my friend Patrick soybaby), so I was nervous as fuck. I spent a good portion of the day begging Kevin to leave work early and come with me because I was so scared. He finally agreed, so I picked him up and we headed off to meet the band and the photographers, Trish and Steve, at the Tritan Hotel in SF. I wasn’t really that prepared. I had only made 5 tops for Aimee, cuz they had been pretty stubborn about giving me her measurements so I didn’t have much to work with. When she first walked into the room, I was like WOW! It’s weird cuz when you see pictures of her, you think, “Yeah, she’s pretty.” But when you actually meet her and see her up close in person, she’s such a knockout!! Photos do her no justice, really. She’s beautiful. And SOOOO nice! She shook my hand and was very friendly. Of the five tops I made, she only liked these:
They looked good on her! I was happy. And everyone in the band was extremely sweet and funny. Not a trace of shitty Hollywood attitude! At first, I was very obviously nervous about being there. But Aimee said, “Hey! No need to feel weird. You’re not the only Amy in the room!” She’s so rad. Everyone was drinking, and after a few beers and glasses of wine, I was finally relaxed and having a ton of fun.
I brought my camera, but I’m kinda bummed that I didn’t get to take any pictures on it. They were pretty much shooting nonstop, and I didn’t wanna butt in and say, “WAIT! Can I jump in real quick and get a picture with Aimee on my own camera?” But I did take this one cute picture of photographer booty hanging out of the window of the 5th floor hotel room. The band was posing on the fire escape, and the pics came out GORGEOUS (but I’m not allowed to post them here cuz technically they are not my property. Boo!)
Oh what the hell. I’m going to be a thief and steal some photos anyway, just to show you Aimee in the two tops. Sorry for the cheesy Shrinkle logos, but the photographers and record label will have my head if these pics end up all over the internet.
Isn’t she cute? Okay, some of you have written to me asking for “theStart” gossip. I am so boring, I didn’t manage to get any gossip. During breaks, I mostly only hung out with Eric. And the only gossip I learned is that he had laser eye surgery, highly recommends it, and that his wife is really young and pretty. That’s all. Sorry.

That’s me all dorked out on zero hours of sleep and barely any makeup. If you look closely you might even be able to see my cold sore, haha. So that was that. They’re good people, and I nominate them WORLD’S SWEETEST BAND.

Me and my hot boyfriend. Okay… you can’t tell by my big smile, but I was delirious from sleep deprivation at this point, and it was only like 9:30pm! We only got 4 hours of sleep the nite before, and had been up since 5:30 in the morning. It took me almost an entire WEEK to recover! Anyway, Kevin doesn’t like this picture cuz it looks like he has no neck. But who cares, you guys already know he’s cute, so it doesn’t matter. ;-)

It’s a compliment. Filipinos are good dancers. “Oh Shrinkle! I didn’t appreciate that racist comment! Filipinos should be respected for more than our dancing ability!”

So anyway, we got to see theStart open for Offspring at the Warfield last nite. They were so awesome live!! I didn’t get any pictures of that either. But Trish took one of me and Kevin lost in San Francisco after the concert looking for our car. Shit. I look so goth with my black hair now, haha! Oh, and those things on my shirt… Trish stuck her backstage passes all over me so I’d look EXTRA cool. Did it work?

AWESOME!!! Shoot me now, but I never knew of The Start until you spoke of designing clothing for Aimee. Since then, I’ve listened to their music via their website; they’re coming to Tucson with Offspring shortly, and I’m wanting to see them badly. Although, transportation is a big freaking problem! I’m really interested to see them live though, it sounds like they put on a great show!

Try Biosilk! It’s this kind of gross stuff that looks and feels like lube, and you’re supposed to coat it in your hair to give you a fake healthy glow. It works! :-D I used to have a huge dried out afro, but after I started using Biosilk, I actually started getting COMPLIMENTS on my “healthy” hair. Hahahahahaha!
