Vancouver, Hooters, Trannyshack, Lovemakers, Art Show, Joel, Dyke Bars, Mighty Joe, Drew

Vancouver was awesome!! I’m a dumb shit and forgot to bring my camera’s battery recharger, so we barely took any pictures. :-(

We stayed at the Sutton Place hotel on Burrard Street, which was sweeet! Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions on where to go. The first thing we did when we got there was walk around checking out the stores around Robson and Granville. According to everyone else, it was a beautiful, warm, sunny day. But we were so cold, we couldn’t last 5 minutes before running back to the hotel to get our heavy coats! Other than the cold weather, I looooooooove Canada. The people are nice, and the food is GOOD AND CHEAP! Kevin and I were talking about possibly moving there to start a family because it seems like a really nice place to raise kids. Plus, they have an Electronic Arts office there, so Kevin would be able to transfer.

Looks like it’s time for my once-a-year update!

Saturday nite we had dinner at Bin 941, my new favorite restaurant in the entire world. JESUS CHRIST the food is amazing, and sooooo cheap compared to what it costs to eat out in San Francisco! Afterwards we walked to DV8 for drinks, but it was kind of too quiet and loungy, and we wanted something more clubby. Someone told us to go to Marble Arch for 80s nite. When we got there, they were playing hip hop and the place was crawling with thug wannabes!! We weren’t going to pay $10 to get into a hip hop thug club, so we left and decided to walk around and see if there was anything else going on. We couldn’t find anything, so we walked back to Marble Arch. All the thugs were gone, and the place was full of punks, and they were playing good music! WEEEEIRD!!

We spent most of Sunday walking around. Here’s me (with gross faded hair) checking out the steam clock in Gastown and asking myself what the big deal is with this thing?

Kevin standing in front of EA’s Vancouver office. He was embarrassed posing in front of it, but I made him!

View from EA (I think. I can’t remember)

We had dinner at Hapa Izakaya that nite. There was a 1-hour wait, and the owner got semi-offended when I half-jokingly said, “We’d better not miss Desperate Housewives!!”

Every time Kevin wears this shirt, I am photographed sitting on the side the gun is pointing, haha

Funny Canadian peanut butter with teddy bears. Yes, I like how our camera is running out of batteries and I waste it on peanut butter. There is some weird shit in Canada though!! I saw KETCHUP FLAVORED POTATO CHIPS at the 7-11!! I should have bought a bag, but I didn’t think about it.

On Monday I went on a shopping spree at the Betsey Johnson store near the hotel. I spent $400 in less than half an hour, eek! And that only bought me like, 5 things. Then we met up with some of Kevin’s friends from the Vancouver EA office and had dinner at Shiru-Bay. Weeeeeeeee!!!

Video game nerd family

After dinner, we walked to an Irish pub for drinks. The name of the bar escapes me!

Nerds, nerds, and more nerds!!

On Tuesday we had brunch at the Elbow Room. I had heard from several people that they had a “funny, unique waitstaff” but after 5 minutes the theatrics got old and I started to get a headache from all their yelling and screaming. Not recommended!!

The last thing we did before we left Vancouver was go to that big Asian mall in Richmond. They had tons of fruitsy clothes for dirt cheap, but we had all our luggage with us so I didn’t have room to buy very much. :-( I did buy a hooded monster fur jacket for $29 though. Score!!

****************************

The weekend after we got back, we celebrated Patrick soybaby’s birthday at HOOTERS!!!

Jade and Ryan

Birthday boy Patrick hating us for telling them it was his birthday

Looking for a way out

Accepting defeat

Alex and me

Yes… I realize I am wearing this shirt in like, every single picture of me that was taken last month. I was just really excited when I got it and wore it every day. Haha.

BTW people, Jade is not my sister, she’s just my homey!! Everyone thinks we’re sisters.

***********************

So Xenia came out to California for a last-minute surprise visit!! To get her mind off the family emergency she was dealing with, we took her to Trannyshack! :-D

Little Big Girl booty

Kevin wanted to take pictures of all of us before we left. Here I am brushing 20 pounds of cat hair off my clothes.

My faaaaavorite picture of Jade. Kevin said, “Wow, she looks really good here. Something must be wrong with my camera!”

I hate how grumpy I look when I don’t smile! :-(

At the club

Some guy I met outside. He was really funny and drunk. Hi Raddy!

Miss Marcy Meow

They were giving away free Brady Bunch DVDs to anyone who’d get naked on stage. I can’t believe anyone would get naked for a Brady Bunch DVD!!

Normally I have more taste than to post hairy naked pics, but when I noticed there’s an audience member in the front row REACHING for this guy’s manhood, I had to share. I’ll bet when you saw my “very light nudity” warning, you were hoping it’d be some cute chick. Better luck tomorrow, suckaz!!

Jade and Rob

**************************

A few nites after Xenia left, we went to the Blank Club to see the Lovemakers. Sorry, no actual band pictures, mostly just candid shots of my friends.

This is Stacey.

Stacey and my ex-roommate Natasha. Natasha and I took a sewing class together last year and both failed. Hahahahaha

Me and my favorite neighbor Lily

Afterwards there was an afterparty at some guy named Danny’s house. We thought it’d be ragin’ cuz everyone at the club was talking about how they were gonna go, but when we got there, it was pretty empty and the only booze they had was a half-empty case of Coors Light in the fridge. That went pretty fast.

Gimme some of that Coors

I hung out with this cat most of the nite. We became pretty good friends. Hi, cat!

Gimme some of THAT Coors!

Natasha got all excited cuz she found this bar in the garage. Much to our dismay, all the bottles were EMPTY or smelled just plain wrong! Doesn’t hurt to check though…

***************************

The next week, we went to this video game art show at Blue Cube in SF.

Lovely Lily

My boyfriend is way cuter than all of yours put together!!!

Me and my friend Donerick 7_romans_ate. He works with Kevin and is the one we were having lunch with during the Macy’s bomb threat last Christmas! Maybe it was you, Donerick! Hmmmmmmm

I need to give these shoes a good scrubbing. Xenia gave me these a few years ago and I have worn nothing else ever since!!

This was my favorite. Not saying that I like Paris Hilton, but the painting is really cute!

*************************

Ummm… here we are at the Blank Club a few nites later. Do you think we come here just a little too much? Hmmm? Someone needs to open a really cool club in San Jose. Maybe I will!!!

Jade, John, Joel, and Amy. I need a J in front of my name too!

*****************

Guess who stopped by to visit on their way to Disneyland last week! Alicia (purestylee) and her posse–Matt, Lydia, and Sterling. Good times were had! Lydia wanted to go to a dyke bar real bad, so we took them to Aunt Charlie’s. It was dead empty and super depressing! We were the only people in there, and there wasn’t any music playing. The bartender was this grumpy old man, and there weren’t even tables to sit at so all 7 of us had to stretch out along the bar and couldn’t hear each other. So after our first drink, we took off and went to the Lexington, which I swear is the BEST dyke bar in San Francisco, I don’t care what you say Anna!!!!!!!!!! :-D

Sterling, Lydia and Matt at Aunt Charlie’s

Alicia, Jade, me looking like I actually have boobs… wow, remind me to wear that tank top more often!

The ladiezzz

The menzzzzz

I’m telling Alicia!!! Wait a second, didn’t I kiss Matt too?!

You tell ‘em, Kevin!!

I just showed Matt this picture and his exact words were: “wtf is that like an amy-furball?”

Yes… we fit 7 people into this car.

*****************

So the CRAZIEST thing happened to us last Friday nite!!! It actually happened to Jade and not me, so it’s way funnier when she tells it. Here’s what happened, in Jade’s own words:

I had been itching to go out since I’d pretty much spent all week in the house. The plan was to have a drink or two at the local karaoke joint. Little did we know what excitement awaited us there. I guess we were all a little buzzed from wine at dinner and since it was only about 8:30 the bar was pretty empty. I sang a laryngitis version of “top of the world” and found myself a 70 year old admirer who I later found out goes by the moniker of “Mighty Joe”. Turns out Mighty Joe has been a local patron of the bar for the last 30 years and approximately 15 years ago he was on his way to the bar when an 18 wheeler hit him and dragged him for about 4 blocks. Joe apparantly got up, brushed off the dirt and simply walked to the bar with his bloody face and ordered a drink. So that’s where he got his name and rightfully so.

fast forward to the evening of March 25th 2005 and Joe is not looking too Mighty. Joe, although moving very spritely for his age is speaking in tongues and looking glassy eyed. I go up to sing a second song “These boots are made for walking” and really getting into it. Come to the line “Start Walking!” and point to Joe… only to see him keel over lying motionless on the floor. I was horrified to say the least and ran off to check if he was okay. Well, they called an ambulance for him and after checking his vital signs and realizing he probably just had one too many drinks, hauled him off and assured us he was going to be okay. The fact that the firemen felt okay enough to stop and compliment Amy and I on our hair made me feel a little bit better about the fact that I nearly killed a man with my singing. A little bit shook up after the incident, I finally ended up singing the song after a seeing a few more performances and then completed by doing the robot for Ryan and Scott during their “thriller” song. Decided we had enough excitement for the evening and headed home. What a night…

Here is a picture of Mighty Joe probably 20 minutes before he fell over:

And here is an action shot of Jade, Ryan and Scott partying like it’s 1999

*******************

Here are some pictures from Adam’s house last week. Don’t be fooled by the scary mustache, he’s actually REALLY sweet!

Dee and Brian are in luv!

********************

So I feel bad cuz dreeew was in town for his birthday and not only did I totally miss his birthday party and not get him a present, but he bought ME a present!! What kind of a friend am I?! On the Monday morning after his party, Jade and I went to go pick him up from his man toy Erick’s house. Erick only lives a couple of miles down the street from me, but it took us 45 minutes to get there cuz they gave me the wrong address and I was driving around in angry circles forever. We were supposed to take him out to sushi but by the time we found the house, all the sushi restaurants were closed. So we had to take him to Gordon Biersch downtown. The three of us were walking down the street towards the restaurant when we passed these 2 black guys. They looked at us funny, then one guy said to Drew, “How you have your hair looking like that and STILL get girls like that?!” Drew’s answer: “Cuz it’s my birrrrrrthday!” Hahahahaaha. Grosss… did they think you were our boyfriend?!

He wears more lipgloss than me!!

I’m totally mad at Jade for dying her gorgeous hot pink hair this “I’m-looking-for-a-job” burgundy. Next stop: brown!?

**********************

Last but not least, if you are in the NYC area, be sure to check out Xenia’s party “Maskara” starring some of my favorite DIY girlies. Take lots of pictures and tell me all about it! I was originally supposed to fly out to NY to be in the fashion show too, but I had to drop out at the last minute because of another project that fell in my lap. But I know you guys probably think I’m lying cuz whenever you look at my LJ, it looks like all I do is fool around and get drunk every nite! Well, just so you know, I work like a DOG all day, so I deserve to have a beer or two (or three) every weekend. But I have been working. I just don’t take pictures of it. THAT would make for a very boring LJ entry! :-)

P.S. So does anyone out there actually read my long-ass LJ entries from beginning to end?! I don’t really expect anyone to… I write a lot of it for myself so I don’t go senile and forget these things.

  • pixiewhip says:

You don’t have ketchup chips in America?! What the hell! Your country gave birth to pork rinds for god’s sake.

  • agentlunacy says:

I love Xenia’s skirt thing, I want it! lol

    • amy says:

Thanks! Xenia is actually head to toe in my clothes, haha! She came out here so last minute she didn’t have time to pack. It was fun playing dressup though! :-)

      • agentlunacy says:

You should make me one! That is if you made it. =D

You can’t move to Canada! We still haven’t met and you live like 20 mins away from me! lol

Oh, I got the eyeshadow today! Thanks!

        • umipixie says:

Although I think she SHOULD move to Canada, because I live about an hour away from Vancouver (and a close friend of mine actually works at EA Canada), so maybe I’d finally get to meet her some time if she did. Ha!

  • marissa_d says:

JELA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t know you were on here, haha! Oh man, good thing I didn’t write anything too incriminating under the photo I posted of you a few months ago! JK! :-D

  • gurei says:

I read your long-ass LJ entries from beginning to end!!

It’s quite amusing that Mighty Joe would go to the bar after being dragged 4 blocks instead of the hospital. That bar probably has some damn good drinks.

People stare at me when I have just 1/3 of my hair dyed a DARK PLUM. If they saw me with hot pink or blue, I think I’d give people cardiac arrest. I admire at how well you guys pull it off =]

You don’t have ketchup-flavoured chips there?!?! It’s like a super normal thing here in Canada. And Kraft Peanut Butter too. hehe.

  • hulakahlua says:

Hehe. Read about half of it then scanned the one liners until i got to the bottom. Dun worry though, i’ll prolly finish it later when i’m done with work. hehe.

fab piccys. fortunately you’re “grumpy no smile” look is kinda cute. :) And I totally think pink looks good on Jade. Very vibrant.

    Allison

    • amy says:

Haha, don’t worry, like I said, I don’t expect anyone to read the whole thing! I write a lot of it for myself cuz I’m anal and freak out if I forget things. :-)

      • hulakahlua says:

I know the feeling. Its the reason i keep a journal and am a complete pack rat. haha. yeah, i hate throwing things away cause then i permanently forget about the memories associated with things. :) Keep up the great pics.

        Allison

  • harmonious says:

I saw KETCHUP FLAVORED POTATO CHIPS at the 7-11!!

LMAO! I went to Canada like a month ago and said the SAME THING. “WTF KETCHUP CHIPS?!” I bought a bunch of random Canadian shit while I was there, but didn’t buy any chips either… they sounded too nasty.

Also, I skim your whole entry! :D

  • toiletdog says:

The SECOND I make it big in the acting biz (hopefully sooner than later!), I am flying out to Cali to hang with you and then *I* can be in your picture posts. ♥

  • satinworship says:

No one should have to un-dye their hair pink for a job, that’s a crime. I miss my various stages of pink hair.

  • bluskyz75 says:

Picture overload! :) I always look forward to your posts.. they make me giggle. :)

I wanna come karaoke with you guys! That would be fun! Poor old Joe!!

I call Bryan my video game nerd too. He works at EB Games and lives for that shit! :)

Do you think you’re coming back to Florida any time soon?

  • esjay says:

The cat really looks like he’s reading the mail!
Your pictures are always fun :-)
Too bad you can’t go to the maskara party :-(
    I’ll take lots of pics!

  • Great photos. LOL @ the gun pointing at you. I was like WHERE’S THE NUDITY? And then I saw it…all for a DVD? Good lawd.

  • purestylee says:

You and Jade are sooo cool!!! And youre right, jade looks super gorgeous in that pic! Oh yeah, i guess kevin’s ok, but you would never be able to tell by that picture of him pointing at the camera. (just kidding kevin if you read this!!)

but yeah i hope you enjoyed kissing my boyfriend because i would only let someone of the likes of you kiss him!! :D And now its your turn to come up here and we can go to the only gay bar i know of and watch drag queen shows and listen to terrible trance!

    • lifeofminx says:

That was really weird to go through Amy’s pictures and see you guys and Sterling! =D

    • amy says:

Tell Matt I said Thanks, He was FANT-ASS-TIC

Oh my gosh, that actually sounds reallllly fun!! (watching drag shows and listening to terrible trance). I want to visit you guys soooo bad! I’ve wanted to visit Portland for years, but never had an excuse to. But how can I say no to going to gay bars with Alicia and that fine hunk of burning love Matt?

  • alania_x says:

    I just wanted to say….
    ketchup chips are deeelicious :D

If I ever actually win anything from you on eBay I’ll send you some in the mail ;)

      • alania_x says:

As long as customs doesn’t eat them! I got a shipment of Japanese candies once from my friend. The box was sealed in a plastic bag with an “apology” letter from USPS, saying it was slightly damaged in shipping. One of the boxes of candy inside was opened with a piece missing!

  • indiastylez says:

looks Like fun.. the Pics are pretty..by the way

  • she_fiend says:

Awww bright colors! Love the pics!

  • Lots of cool photos, cutie. The hair on everybody is fierce.

  • chirashi_don says:

You don’t have mini-peanut butter or ketchup chips in the states?
    (I so know what I’m sending YOU for Xmas. . . )

    • amy says:

I think we might hvae mini peanut butter, but it sure as hell doesn’t have TEDDY BEARS on it! You guys are way cutesier. Everything in the States is more… sterile???

  • Wow, that was crazy fucking long, but I made it though for the pictures.
Yes, your boyfriend is way hot but my boyfriend is better in bed. So there!
If Jade’s hair color is looking-for-a-job-burgundy, then I need to get my ass out of Mississippi, because down there’s that’s you’re-going-straigh-to-hell-you-spawn-of-satan-magenta. But yeah, the pink is WAYYYYYY hot on her. Damn.
I’m going to find you a new shirt to replace that black one with the pink hearts. I know everyone thinks you make a fortune on ebay, but I know about the 7 adopted Botswanian children and 86 cats you feed and think its super sweet of you to put them first.
If you decide to move to Vancouver I have a good buddy (and his hot soon-to-be-wife) that could give you the lowdown, if you didn’t already know so many people there. So I’m of no help. whatever.
Do you think Miss Marcy will let me lick her face?

  • viita says:

I love that top…the one you say you wore a million times :D It’s awesome…and HAHA to the hand grabbing at that guy’s dingdong HAH!

  • venus_hated says:

You need to call and drag my ass more often. I’m rotting up in the woods, I wanna play too damn you!

And Joel looks like James Spader! Woo woo!

    • amy says:

Duuuuuuuuuude I know!!! I just realized that nite I called you about Mighty Joe, that you probably thought I purposely went out without you since you were at my house earlier that day and wanted to do something. But it was actually really last minute! We were planning on staying home that nite, and Jade stopped by to drop off some cupcakes while I was in my pajamas. We got talked into going out “for a few mellow drinks” and didn’t think it would be that crazy. But yeah, I am talking to Jade right now and she says: “let’s hang out with jen tonight. i dunno why, but i’ve been really excited about hanging out with her again but i still need the initial buffer of you there before i can brave hanging out with her alone otherwise it would seem like an internet date or something”

      • venus_hated says:

HAHAHA internet date! nerds. i’m actually going to a show in santa cruz tonite, not sure you’d be into them…. handsome boy modeling school, woooo! but yeah we should have a threesome date (hahaha naughty) sometime soon. i’m bored!

        24hr manana!

  • does anyone read yr entries? LOLZ!!! duh! you have a fan club, sillybutt.
also; i looooooooooove yr new hair, so much better then the red.
    xoxox

  • Wait wait wait… ketchup-flavored potato chips? That Canada is so wacky!

  • I sort of like the faded blue hair, it looks like cotton candy! The story about Mighty Joe! Wah.

  • silkbullet says:

Ew. Your just too awesome for words.

  • this posting overloaded my poor 56k, i’m gonna have to check it out at alicia’s. yes i am 1998 man.

  • I’m so glad you had a fun time in Vancouver! Raising your kids here is definately a good idea; our public education system is much more ahead of yours (no offense). I’m thinking you guys just don’t have Ketchup chips in California (or just the San Francisco area) because I found them in Seattle (my cousin from San Jose comes here every year and buys like 20 bags of Ketchup chips!).

I love your entries because they’re always so entertaining. Those pictures of Xenia, Jade and you are so beautiful! You three must have turned a lot of heads walking down the street like that ;) By the way, I would consider putting a watermark on those because they’ll probably be stolen by some creepy losers…

    • amy says:

Dude let’s have a ketchup chip party if I’m ever in Victoria!

And I’m not too worried about people stealing my pics. It happens, but you know. Whatever. :-)

  • lionelrichie says:

the shrinkle, did you make the kevin wear eye makeup?

    nice pics btw

  • sciencegeek says:

I read them from beginning to end!
And Katchup chips are a fairly ‘Canadian’ thing. They’re alright, if you like that sort of thing.

BC would be an awesome place to live – it’s a lot more multicultural than where I am.

  • plumlicorice says:

i’ve seen ketchup flavored potato chips in michigan! you’re not missing much though… they’re really gross. :&

  • bella_dawl says:

    um… you’re fucking gorgeous!!!
also canada is a … weird place. ketchup chips, also pickle ones.. and their milk doesn’t come in a carton, it comes in a bag. and smarties.. are like m&ms.
    haha anyway.
yes you are too cute for words
(as is this blonde boy with the lipgloss)

  • bambiii says:

sooooooooo weird that you guys dont have ketchup chips!!!!

  • radioache says:

i read the whole thing. i envy you for your fabulous life!

  • redainjel says:

Quit copying my hair color! ; P

    Of course I read your entries, you post so infrequently that I always read so I can see what you’re up to. And I’m totally jealous that you got to go into a Betsey Johnson store. The closest one to me is in Kansas City and last time I was there I wasn’t allowed to go in because my boyfriend was with and he knew how much money I could easily spend there. ;_;

    • amy says:

Luckily my boyfriend was in a business meeting when I wandered into Betsey Johnson alone, armed with a credit card, HAHAHAHA

      • redainjel says:

Oh, that would be a huge dangerous combination for me. I don’t know how you got away with only $400

        • amy says:

I don’t know… I think cuz it’s prom season, so everything there was SUPER fancy prom dresses!

          • redainjel says:

Oh, ick. I didn’t even get a big fancy prom dress for mine. Skirt + corset to hold in preggo belly. I went to my senior prom for 20 minutes, sat at a table, and suggested we go home. I think we ordered pizza or chinese and then I passed out.

  • AHAHAHAHAHHA
That is so awesome that you took pictures of peanut butter because you thought it was funny.. these things I see every day. Ketchup chips too… man the things I take for granted…

  • femmriot says:

your entries are the bestest amy & you really should open a club in san joser!! <3

  • i only post like once a year too!
ewww ketchup flavored potato chips just kind of taste like dull barbeeque flavored ones!
the gun tee-shirt comment made me do that laugh out loud unexpected snort thing ;D

dude your posts are always so great ^_^
    ♥ ♥ ♥

    p.s. I GOT ANOTHER PUPPPPPIIEEEEEEE!!!
p.p.s. i wish i had a big head like you- seriously!!!

  • lexib0t says:

I read it all because your life is interesting, mine is boring. I go to work, I come home, hang out at a friends house, play videogames, sleep. Rinse and repeat. I live vicariously through people who have exciting lives.

  • I read all the entries from beginning to end. I think they’re fun.
We have ketchup flavored potato chips here in Virginia somewhere. I don’t remember exactly where, but I do remember eating them. They were yum!

I spy Joel in your plethora of photos! *swoons* Oh, and Xenia’s cute tush.

And is that Bamboo 7? I love that place! I never sing. I would most definitely kill someone…

    • amy says:

Oh, hey! The Joel pics… that was the nite I asked you if you wanted to come out with us! But someone was still hungover from the nite before, hahahaha…

YES THAT IS BAMBOO 7! I live right by there! I didn’t know you go there too. Call me if you’re ever in the neighborhood! I’m serious!

  • from beginning to end, its fun! ^_^

i just hate the wait, stupid dial up!! haha

  • moemoebean says:

    Hooters!

I am jealous that your Hooters girls actually have hooters! The Hooters here in Niagara Falls (tacky capital of the world) all seem to not have hooters, but then again, they have nice bums! So, I have named the Hooters here “Asses” instead.

  • moemoebean says:

I just sent you money hehe

Someone recommended I buy an UV Aquacolor Palette from you….
so I just sent you (via PayPal) $41.00 U.S. dollarinos.
Hope that is okay. If it’s not, for whatever reason….just let me know.
I have had too much coffee today and am being silly. :0

Awww thanks! They’re so sweet! Anyway, I would have given you a huge discount on that palette if you’d just emailed me and told me you wanted it instead of doing it thru eBay. I have to jack up all my prices on eBay cuz of stupid seller fees. But for future reference if you ever want anything, just let me know and I’ll hook you up for way cheaper! ;-)
