YEeek!

AHHHHHHH!!! The editor of Vodka magazine HATED the photos!!! She said they contained NONE of the characteristics that made her fall in love with Patrick’s work in the first place! She said they were conservative and that we were obviously holding back in the creativity department. Which really confuses us, cuz we DID want to go fully nuts with it, but were constantly being reminded that Vodka magazine is about “West Coast urban downtown living, cocktails and culture, dedicated to active cosmopolitans who are creative, progressive and trendsetting men/women between the ages of 25 & 35.”

She said Kate looked old, Mark looked stoned, and my clothes looked too ’90s.

We are re-shooting this week, doing something TOTALLY different. New model, new clothes, new makeup. And we’re going to shoot it at MY HOUSE, hahahaha! This is going to be so funny, but I’m pretty confident that we know what she’s looking for this time.

What to do with the other pictures? Well it looks like I’ll be selling all those outfits on eBay this week and having REALLY fancy photos to go with my auctions, hahahaha!

  • Amy that’s such a load of shit, what assholes!! From what I could see in that candid shot you posted the other day, I thought everything looked GREAT! Fuck them, really! And early 90s?! Aren’t your clothes SUPPOSED to be tacky on purpose? Who the fuck IS this lady anyway, what a crock of shit!

    • amy says:

Well, we WERE upset for about five minutes when we heard the news, but we totally understand! They’re not assholes. After all, it IS their magazine, and it IS our job to give them something that they feel represents their magazine! We can only blame the lack of communication for whatever caused us to not fully understand what they wanted.

I don’t mind shooting again. We had so much fun the first time around, and I’m sure we’ll have fun the second time around! It’s also more experience for all of us, and more shit to add to our portfolios. :-) The only thing that is stressing me out right now though is that I only have till THURSDAY to make some brand new clothes! I feel lucky though, that she still wants to use US and that she didn’t just decide to hire someone else to do it. Whew! :-)

Oh god, if someone told me that, I’d assume they wanted me to expense a bunch of shit from Urban Outfitters. *snort*

  • tigerbalmer says:

That description is such fucking vague BS really. “URBAN” is a boring overused art fart term now that means NOTHING. Everything in the fucking world is urban, even cows are urban if you want to make them.

Mark looking stoned–well that’s what all the creative/progressive/trendsetting people I know can tend to look like. ;)

I hope you guys aren’t having to pay for the expenses of the previous or 2nd shoot?
Good luck with all that sewing! Maybe someday I can be an assistant to your shoots. ;)

    • amy says:

Well they actually gave Patrick a budget for the whole project, and he chooses how to spend it. So no, they are not reimbursing us or giving us extra money for the re-shoot! We spent $550 hiring the models for the first shoot (ouch!), but this second time around we’re going on a tighter budget and using Patrick’s friend, who’s a car model, haha! Not as cheesy as it sounds– it’s gonna be good and I think she’s absolutely adorable and perfect. I also giggle at the fact that these “cosmopolitan trendsetters in their 20s and 30s” will have no idea that this classy chick they see on the cover of their classy magazine is, in fact, an amateur car show girl. Rock on!

  • xelyna says:

Shit, that’s really mean! Well, this time you should model all the clothes, and take all the pictures of you in your kitchen eating dinner or watching TV, and see if that’s what they’re looking for…

    • amy says:

Hahahaha!!! We were actually joking that we should take pictures of each other in tuxedos sipping wine and hanging out in art galleries, heehee!

  • touchedstar says:

What the hell! That’s shitty that the editor hated the photos, but better luck this time I guess. With her little description there I think of 20 and 30 somethings sitting about sipping cocktails in their trendy business suits. Eh well. Live, learn, kick ass the 2nd time.

    Art Fags…

No offense to real honest HoMOs but for fecks sake(re: title).
But this is why I got the feck outta the (fashion) biz.
They take themselvwes way too seriously.
Of course this is coming from someone that is constantly supposedly way ahead of her time/… *feh* *bleh* and *blorg*.
Tell those pretentious f#cks to jump offa short SF pier.
It’s not like it’s fecking Vogue fer cripes sake!

I think you and your photog person make a fantabulous team.

We’ve run of our past to re-create any new nostaglia…

    Too 90’s mah arse!

      Re: Amy!

      That’s actually a vintage nightgown I bought and chopped up six years ago… I love it way too much to ever part with it! It’s one of my favorites. :-}

  • mars_rust says:

I am really proud of your professional attitude. You would be surprised at how many people would just get all pissed off and blow it with the art director because they can’t take criticism and are too lazy to re-design the clothes. I used to see it a lot as a sculptor, not fashion designer, but still. Good for Shrinkle!!

    • amy says:

Hahaha! If I had such a professional attitude… I wouldn’t be sitting here making all sorts of sarcastic comments in my Livejournal!

  • mesasophia says:

that sucks about her hating the pictures… but im stoked about checking the clothes out!

  • eroticanymph says:

is that a sevillana dancing on a chair?
